Every blue-collar town needs a good diner.

In an area known for its factories, small shops, hard working residents and little roadway access in or out, the Whitestone Diner blends in to provide the community it serves with just about anything it needs – a bevy of dishes that range from quick snacks to fine dining.

From the outside, the diner does not fit the usual description of the standard freestanding 1950s-style building. Like nearly all of Whitestone businesses, the diner is attached to other stores, but once you walk inside, it’s everything you would expect.

A row of bar style seating lines the left side and there are two rooms for patrons to eat at booths or in chairs. There is also plenty of space for large parties. A backyard patio is also used during the summer months.

Celebrating its 18th year, the Whitestone Diner offers some great seafood specials that include several shrimp dishes, filet of sole, Boston Scrod, tender squid, mussels over linguini and plenty more for reasonable prices, starting at about $14.95.

Like most diners, it doesn’t matter if you are stopping by for a breakfast fill at any time of day, or if you are looking to feast on their extensive dinner and lunch menus.
The diner also serves some delicious hand held favorites like burgers, tuna melts, BLT’s, hot open sandwiches and diet delights for those watching their weight.

An extensive salad menu could start things off and there are plenty of Greek Island specialties, which include the Myconos, Rhodus, Chios, Paros and more.

Appetizers include local favorites like Buffalo wings, chicken tenders, stuffed cabbage, fried calamari and more.

There’s also an extensive liquor list, soft drinks, bottled beer, classic milkshakes, ice cream sodas, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, hot or iced cappuccino, espresso and five choices of house wines.

For dessert, the Whitestone Diner serves everything from the classic cheesecake to bread pudding – and all are worth trying.

The Diner offers a children’s menu priced at $5.95, so the little ones can enjoy a night out with dishes named after six of the seven Snow White dwarfs. Whether purposely or not, Sleepy has been left out, but kids can get Grumpy, which is listed as a sliced roast turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce, mashed or fried potatoes, gravy, ice cream, Jell-O or pudding and milk or cola.

Actually, that could make me kinda sleepy.

Regardless, be sure to bring an appetite but not a big wallet as the prices are reasonable and the portions are generous.
