Agape has thrown all of the expectations of a traditional coffee shop out the window and added real food to the menu.
The food at this quaint Sutphin Boulevard shop is so good that the local Business Improvement District chose Agape as the place to celebrate its first year, allowing Mayor Bloomberg and many elected officials to feast on chicken and waffles at a true Southeast Queens hotspot.
With breakfast being served until 11 a.m. every day, patrons should rush over and try the breakfast panini ($3.25) made with sausage and cheddar. The breakfast quiche ($3.10), made with sage sausage, onions, broccoli and cheddar or Swiss cheese, bacon and sautéed onions, is also a unique morning dish.
The lunch menu is made up of nine sandwich wraps served on a white flour or whole-wheat tortilla. For $5.95, a customer can order the Caesar wrap, made with grilled chicken, salad greens, Parmesan cheese, sliced tomatoes, seasoned croutons and Caesar dressing.
For the same price, a patron can also get the Queen of Thai wrap, made with grilled chicken and veggies, brown steamed rice and Thai peanut sauce.
There is also an array of salads served with your choice of seasoned or homemade cornbread croutons. The fried chicken salad ($5.95) is made with flavorful fried chicken strips layered on a Blends house salad.
Since Agape is also known as a coffee and tea factory, no meal is complete without a frozen crunch coffee ($3.25 - $3.95). The coffee toffee is made with whipped cream and toffee crunch topping, and the cookies ‘n cream is made with whipped cream and chocolate cookie crunch topping.
If you’re more of a tea drinker, try the Jet Tea Fruit ‘n Tea Freeze. You can get the strawberry bomb ($3.25 - $3.95) or a wild berry blast, both made with fresh fruit.
