You've Gotta Have Heart

Crissy Rockaway Park
Age: 18
Height: 5’ 0"
Weight: 110 lbs
Stats: 34-26-34

For Crissy, becoming a model wasn’t planned – it just sort of happened one day.

“A friend of mine was modeling and was going to do a shoot,” Crissy said. “She brought me along, and I loved it.”

That car show shoot 18 months ago gave Crissy a taste for being in front of the lens – and she’s not nearly close to satisfied yet.

“I’m mostly trying to build my portfolio so I can start getting paid to work,” she said after a hard day at her regular job – a saleswoman at a shoe store in the Queens Center Mall.

Crissy admits that she doesn’t have one particular style of modeling that she favors over another. “I’m not really sure what I like best – I guess just modeling, period,” she said. “I love it – it is so much fun it’s great; it’s hard work, but most of it comes naturally.”

“I’m definitely not going to be high fashion or runway – I’m pretty short. But I’m going put my heart into it,” Crissy told us of her modelling dream.

Crissy grew up in Flushing and went to Long Island City High School before she transferred to Beach Channel. She is now a fashion marketing student at City Tech in Brooklyn.

Between school and work, Crissy said she doesn’t get out much: “Usually it’s so sad – I’m always in this mall. I remember when I was younger, this place was heaven. It’s gotten a lot better over the years.”

Crissy has a message for all the girls out there looking to follow their modeling dream: “You have to have a heart for modeling,” she said. “If you put your heart into things, you’re going to succeed whatever you do.”

The Doc Is Out

"Doc" in his 1984 heyday

Former Mets great Dwight Gooden was released from prison Nov. 9, after serving seven months of a 366-day sentence. Gooden was serving time in Gainesville, Fla. for violating the terms of his probation after testing positive for cocaine.

“I can’t come back here,” Gooden told the Associated Press in a May interview from prison. “I’d rather get shot than come back here.”

Gooden, who had a record of 194-112 and a 3.51 ERA over the course of a 16-year career, spent most of his playing days in New York. He won the Rookie of the Year award with the Mets in 1984, and followed his performance by winning pitching’s Major League Triple Crown in 1985, a feat achieved only one time since.

Gooden’s drug problem dogged him even in his playing days. Mets fans and baseball historians alike hope he can keep himself on the straight and narrow.

Dry Donald

Those were the days: back then when Donald was with Ivana.

Even though Donald Trump doesn’t want ex-wife Ivana to use his name in connection with real estate developments, especially since two of her projects in Las Vega and Australia flopped, he is willing to help her overcome her drinking problem.

The Donald called up Ivana to offer his help after reading a story on South Asian Women’s Forum about her meltdown at the Carousel of Hope ball in Beverly Hills.

“He told her he’d love to help her quit drinking,” sawf.org reported “but she told him she just had a bad reaction to NyQuil.”

According to sawf.org, one of its sources claims Ivana is in denial.

Trump does not consume alcohol because his older brother, Fred Jr., died of alcoholism and he has always feared if he ever drank, he would become a drunkard.

“If I drank, it’s guaranteed I’d be an alcoholic, with the life I lead,” sawf.org reported Trump told to one of his friends.

Rotten Apple

Lloyd Banks latest album

Lloyd Banks has done it again.

With the release of his latest album, “Rotten Apple,” the Queens native has shown that his talent and work are anything but rotten.

“Rotten Apple” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Charts and already has three hits to its credit. Although critics are claiming that this sophomore album does not have the impact of its predecessor, many would argue given the way fans have been taking to of the songs.

Banks is a member of fellow Queens’ native, 50 Cents’ G-Unit. He was the 2003 Mixtape Artist of the Year and has had a total of five songs appear on Billboard’s Hot 100 List.

Models Wanted

“We’re currently an all male office looking for a general assistant who is willing to wear sexy low cut blouses, short skirts and high heels. If you’re comfortable with lingerie, that’s better. If you’re comfortable with less, that’s great.”

That’s what readers caught sight of as they scanned the classified section of the Village Voice. This “help” wanted ad is obviously geared towards women here in Queens and the four other surrounding boroughs.

But maybe there really isn’t anything to worry about, since the ad continues, “There will be no touching, no propositioning, most of us are married or in LTRs. We just want someone easy on the eyes, but, and this is important, someone who can also make copies, do mail, file, etc. We’re looking for someone under 35.”

Be aware that, “Compensation is negotiable depending on experience, but will be more than fair,” and that their “measurements, cup size, and a pic (it doesn’t have to include your face, but that would be nice.)” will be of some help in that compensation.

And to convince these experienced assistants of just how great of an environment this will be for them, the last line of the ad reads, “We are really nice professional guys. Please be open minded, upbeat and sane. Thanks!”
