Triple Threat

Luna
Home: Ozone Park
Age: 24
Height: 5’ 6"
Weight: 125 lbs
Stats: 34-24-35

This multi-talented Puerto Rican hottie has been modeling for the last three years and has been interested in being an entertainer since she was 3.

Part of the drive for a career in entertainment is practical: “I enjoy getting pampered,” she said.
Luna had taken a stab at acting, and has landed small parts in “Law & Order” and “The Sopranos.” She decided that she would try her hand at modeling, and has done a variety of work, including some semi-nudes, artistic pieces and even some promotional work for onemodelplace.com.

“I work with a lot of photographers who do editorial work,” Luna said. “There is one particular photographer I have been working with who is working on a women’s book. The shoots have been great.”

But when not in front of the camera, Luna has been devoting the remainder of her time to her real career goal – singing.

“I am currently working on my first album, which is in a Reggaeton style,” which she describes as a mix of reggae and salsa. Some of the tracks are in Spanish and the rest are in English.

“Although I was raised in Puerto Rico, I was born in Queens and I live here in New York now,” Luna said. The musical influences of both locales have served her well in creating her unique style.

“This is a little bit of everything,” she said.

When she’s not in the studio, on the set or at a shoot, this Queens College grad likes to kick back and watch TV. She will occasionally head to the park for a game of handball.

“When I was 11 years old I started writing poetry, and it wasn’t until recently that I realized that I was writing lyrics for Reggaeton songs,” she said.

So while Luna waits for her career to take off, she finds that being stretched in three directions at one time is not too tough to get used to.

“I love the variety,” she said. “I definitely love to do the acting, and the modeling is great. So is the singing. My goal is to get to meet every one of my fans and let them see who I really am.”

The Leroy Workout!

There’s a new fitness guru in town and he comes in the form of a rather unlikely person.

Councilman Leroy Comrie, who is a towering giant and well, to say the least, doesn’t look very fit, has brought a free fitness workout program to Liberty Park in his Southeast Queens community.

According to NY1’s website, which covered the gentle giant's fitness gig, Comrie proclaims, “The entire country is overweight, including myself. People have been after me to try to get healthier. I figured I would share my opportunity to get healthy with the entire community.”
The program is one of several run by the city’s Parks Department which plans to add many more this summer.

So look for one in your neighborhood and you, too, can workout with Leroy.

Flagman

Louie "The Flagman"

Louie “The Flag Man” was sighted on the entranceway to the Long Island Expressway via Queens Boulevard Friday, May 27, double barreled with a pair of flags and catching the eyes of motorists throughout the afternoon.

“I’m enjoying my life!” Louie proudly proclaimed over the whirring automobiles and greeting honks when asked what his motivation to hit the highways was.

Patriotism and propensity is Louie’s message, and making people smile is Louie’s goal.

Engagement Wrestling Ring

Ackerman Press Secretary Jordan Goldes with Debbie Shapiro, the prize he won in a wrestling ring.

Wrestling may take on a new meaning for one local couple. Jordan Goldes, press secretary to Congressman Gary Ackerman, and his longtime girlfriend Debbie Shapiro, an attorney with the prestigious firm of Skadden Arps, are, believe it or not, according to Goldes, “huge professional wrestling fans.”

And Goldes, who has been through the political wars with Ackerman thought of no place more romantic than the center of a wrestling ring to pop the question. So in between the body slams and the head-butts, he actually got into the ring, in front of approximately 1,000 people, and proposed (on one knee) with the crowd screaming & cheering him on.

The planned, but secret popping of the question occurred before the third match after the wrestler known as The Sandman clobbered a fellow wrestler with the Singapore cane he brandishes. It is believed to be the first wedding proposal in a wrestling ring during a wrestling match except for a few scripted, fictitious wrestling proposals.

While Goldes didn’t have to put Shapiro into a submission hold to get her to say yes, the ring announcer did remind her that the Sandman was still in the building if she needed convincing.

The only question Congressman Ackerman had for the couple was whether or not Hulk Hogan would be invited to the wedding.

Not Invited To The Party

G.O.P.'s Ed Cox

Maybe there is a liberal bias in the media.

That can help explain why some newspapers, including the Trib, didn’t get the notice that Richard Nixon’s son-in-law, and likely Hillary Clinton G.O.P. challenger, Ed Cox met with Queens County Republican leader Serphin Maltese, Councilman Dennis Gallagher and other Republican mucky-mucks at Roma View on Cross Bay Boulevard recently.

Someone at the party’s headquarters told QConf why one photographer in particular was invited: “She’s a friend of the Senator, you know. And she is a Republican.”

Desperate

Cody Kasch busted!

For 18-year-old actor Cody Kasch, the role he has been playing on the hit ABC TV show “Desperate Housewives,” the somewhat mysterious Zach Young, often appears a challenge. After all, the Queens resident plays a teenager who grew up thinking he killed his baby sister, who moved from Utah to the state-less Wisteria Lane, and whose mother killed herself in the first episode of the series.

Perhaps the stress got to him.

Kasch was arrested in the East Village on May 17 when a cop smelled a funny substance in the air. The actor was charged with fifth degree drug possession, given a ticket, and released. He is expected to appear in court this month.
