Tom Boy
Marianna will knock you out – literally if you’re not lucky.
The Ozone Park model and admitted tomboy has been taken up boxing and she doesn’t hold any punches when she’s playing with the guys.
“I can be a bit of a tomboy,” she said. “I do anything the boys can do.”
For the business administration student at Queensborough Community College, modeling is her window to the world.
“It’s a way for me to be whatever I want or whoever I want,” Marianna said.
Marianna has been modeling since 2005 while working for a modeling agency as choreographer.
She said she enjoys hanging out in Astoria’s cafes, listening to music, watching movies and reading – but most of all, she just likes to have fun.
Marianna hopes her modeling career will take off one day
“I really enjoy it,” she said.
But for now, she’s just focused on finishing her degree.

| About Time
After eight years, Q-Tip finally gave his an encore.
Last month the Queens rapper released “The Renaissance,” a follow up to his 1999 solo debut “Amplified.”
The album is ripe with Queens imagery and, thankfully, pays homage to the boom-bap rap of the late ’80s and early ’90s. D’Angelo, Norah Jones and Raphael Saadiq all make appearances on the album but it’s mainly Q dominating the disc.
Q-Tip was a founding member of the legendary group A Tribe Called Quest.
You can catch him on his latest or on tour this winter.
Good to have ya back Q.

Registry Picks For Six
Here’s your chance to add one more – make that six more – names to your holiday gift list.
Victor and Digna Carpio, the Whitestone couple who gave birth last month to the City’s second-ever set of sextuplets, have set up a public Toys R Us registry and are asking generous local residents to lend a hand.
The newborns, named Joel, Jaden, Genesis, Jezreel, Justin and Denelia, are sure to benefit from the practical items listed on the registry, which include a four child passenger stroller, Sesame Street 7-pack of bibs and hands-free baby bottles (because this mom certainly has her hands full already).
“Having one newborn is a tremendous task for any family,” said City Councilman Tony Avella, who is encouraging donations. “Having six is an unimaginable task.”
To donate gifts, go to toysrus.com, click on the baby registry link and type in registry number 77223180.

Katz Cuts Her Credit Cards
|
| Melinda Katz
|
City Councilwoman Melinda Katz chopped up her American Express card last week, in what was described as a “symbolic gesture.”
“I am cutting up my American Express card. Until the situation is rectified and rates are either frozen or lowered, American Express will no longer get my business, and I urge all New Yorkers to join me,” Katz said. “The Federal bailout money was never meant to boost profits. It was meant to free up the credit markets and provide access to capital. Yet American consumers have yet to see the benefits of any of this. Where is our increased access to capital, and where are our reduced credit card rates?”
While symbolic gestures may get a bit of press, the people of the city might expect a lot more from the City Council right now.

Mets Picking Up Pieces
This Mets off-season will prove the busiest in years as the market is flooded with talent and the roster is full of holes.
The day after the Phillies won the World Series, the Amazins picked up Carlos Delgado’s one year option for $12 million, keeping the 36-year-old at first base at least one more season. The team ignored buying out his contract for $4 million.
The move was near-predictable, as Delgado had a power-surge in the second half of the 2008, giving him his best statistical year as a Met.
Still, rumors abound that Delgado may be on the trading block midway through next season, should the Mets’ bullpen remain a gaping void of talent.
Meanwhile, the Mets allowed former ace Pedro Martinez’s contract to end without blinking, essentially ending his career as a pitcher in Flushing.
The Mets are now exploring free agent options to shore-up their pitching, namely Derek Lowe and Francisco “K-Rod” Rodriguez.

Teacher Makes Model Student
|
| Model/student Joshua Walker
|
Gina Salamino was canned this past summer from her job as a second grade teacher at PS 121 for having sexual relations with then 17-year-old high school student and professional model, Joshua Walker .
Now she is suing the City, claiming she never knew Walker was enrolled in high school. He never really attended. See, models tend to travel and catwalk a lot. Studies are secondary.
Since the Daily News first broke the story, Walker and Salamino have become the stuff of water-cooler fodder and tabloid madness. The Hugo Boss model, now 19, was most recently involved in a scuffle with photographers outside his home.
