Priscilla DiStasio Home: College Point Age: 21 Height: 5’4" Weight: 112 lbs. 34-28-36
College Point resident Priscilla DiStasio has always taken chances.
At 16 years old, she became interested in modeling, and unlike so many who just dream the dream, she lived it.
She was first shot by Options Talent and New Faces at age 17, and quickly did a shoot for fragrance and makeup retail chain Sephora. She explained that the store was looking for girls to model for a makeover promotion, and she got one of the jobs.
From there, nothing has slowed down for Priscilla, who said she thinks modeling is fun and that she wants to get out there and find new jobs. Right now, however, modeling is a part time thing as she focuses on her day job as a sales administrator at a softwear company.
Still, the self-proclaimed “free agent” always squeezes in time for shoots. Last week, she did a photo shoot with a photographer who used to work with well-known agency Uptown Management.
When it comes to projects, she said “if something comes along, I’ll take a chance – if it’s legit.” She added that her goal is to get a taste or piece of everything. Then, she said, “I’ll be satisfied.” And she’s always been like that.
As a child, she said she was into everything. She would always be in dance recitals and put on shows for her older sister and two brothers. She even admits to being a little bit of a show off.
Now, a bit more modest, Priscilla enjoys relaxing and spending time with her family and dog, a Shitzu named Bella. And sorry guys, but she also lists spending time with her boyfriend as a top priority.

Bruce In Queens . . . Again?
Superstar rocker Bruce Springsteen may be bringing his E-Street Band back to Queens.
The outspoken President George W. Bush hater who rocked out at Shea Stadium last year is reportedly interested in performing a free outdoor show during the Republican Convention in the City to draw attention away from the GOPers and their message.
According to one published report, Springsteen was thinking about holding his show in Central Park, but that doesn’t seem like an option. After all, every group looking to protest the Convention by rallying on the Great Lawn in Central Park was denied a permit by the Parks Department because the agency says the park is not suitable for large-scale protests.
That would mean, of course, that it’s also not suitable for large-scale concerts.
Instead, the Parks Department has been referring protestors to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in good old Queens, a move that has angered protestors looking to get as close to the Convention as possible.
But Springsteen wouldn’t mind, would he? In fact, it would seem that he would want to be as far away from the Convention as possible to keep people – and their ears – away from the Republicans and their thoughts.
Bruce’s people had no comment and no shows are official . . . yet.

The architect designing the housing for Olympic athletes (should NYC host the 2012 games) has one small problem. He can’t find a place to live.
Thom Mayne of the California-based architectural firm Morphosis told our QConf sources that he’s been looking for a place for six months. Of the Manhattan places he’s seen so far…nothing!
What about a place in Queens, Mr. Mayne? He said he is looking for the “complete antithesis” of his suburban, car-centered lifestyle, and that means Manhattan.
Apparently, for the guy designing the Queens village – which will eventually house 18,000 New Yorkers – Manhattan is the place to be.
Interesting.

Bloomberg Fits Right In
He’s a billionaire mayor originally from Boston, but Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he felt right at home when he arrived unannounced at a Guy R. Brewer Democratic Club dinner in Queens Village recently at Antun’s, the unofficial eatery of the Queens County Democratic Party.
There, our QConf sources heard Dems asking Repub Bloomberg what he was doing there.
Laughingly, Bloomberg told the hundreds of people that he had been a lifelong Democrat way before registering as a Republican in 2001. In fact, the 62-year-old Bloomberg said he had probably been a Democrat longer than some of the people at the club.

Blond Tribute
Punk rock band Blondie released its first studio album since 1995 and it includes a tribute to one of Queens’ most famous leather-wearing rockers – Joey Ramone.
The Forest Hills native who lost his battle with cancer in 1998 is the subject of Blondie’s song “Hello Joe” on the band’s new album “The Curse of Blondie.”
Ramone, of course, was the leader of the band The Ramones, and put Queens on the rock map with songs like “Rockaway Beach.”
He and Blondie routinely played the Manhattan club CBGBs toget-her in the 70's, and the band dedicated “Hello Joe” to his memory.
All In Perspective
You can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, and you can’t raise prices without bothering a few customers.
That's the lesson that the owners of The Bagel Club, a popular bagel shop in the Baybridge Shopping Center in Bayside, learned this week.
After the store was forced to impose a small price hike to its items, some of its regular customers became a bit perturbed. The club, which still has fairly low prices, offered a small sign on its storefront window and on the outside apologizing for the price hike, which it calls necessary.
But when the owners saw a newspaper item about a $1,000 omelet now offered at posh Manhattan hotel Le Parker Meridien, they evidently felt a bit better about the additional nickels and dimes they had tacked on to their menu items. So they posted a second sign, this time inside and near the cash register, showcasing this latest example of inner-borough extravagance. The sign says, “You think our prices are high?”
The sign then has an arrow pointing down at the newspaper article with the headline “Would You Pay $1,000 For An Omelet?” discussing the $1,000 masterpiece, which includes six eggs, lobster and – get this – 10 ounces of sevruga caviar. The caviar normally costs about $65 an ounce.
Gulp!
Rock on!
