Physical Therepy Anyone?

Micheline Perieira Home: Rego Park Age: 24 Height: 4’ 7" Weight: 110 lbs Stats: 34-24-32
For this Brazil-born bombshell, modeling has simply been something to help her save money to finish what she started in her home country – a degree in Physical Therapy.
“I only came to New York five years ago,” Micheline said.
Arriving with her mother, and having worked some of her way toward a degree, Micheline found two great jobs, very different from one another. A babysitter by day and hot model by night, she has managed to squirrel away what she needs to head back to school. to save money and just work now,” she said. “I think this year I will probably go back. I can’t wait anymore.”
Part of what held her up was getting married two years ago to a guy from Rego Park, where she now lives. It’s a part of Queens that is convenient for her and gives her a place to hang out when life gets rough.
“I just like going to the Queens Center Mall,” she said. “I live a few blocks away, so it’s really convenient.”
When she’s not working or on a photo shoot, Micheline likes to go to concerts, read books and go out with her friends. She is also still working on her English.
“When I came here I thought I knew English, but I didn’t know nothing,” she said like a true New Yorker. “I learn from listening, from reading, from watching, from talking.” Happily married, Micheline laughs about the idea of having kids any time soon. After all she, spends some of her days taking care of someone else’s in Manhattan.
“I want to have kids, but I don’t know,” she said. “I have a dog now. Does that count?”

| Dashow Digs Trib
|
| Q104.3's Ken Dashow
|
While driving around town on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 7, Queens residents might have heard Q104.3’s afternoon radio man Ken Dashow give a shout out to the Queens Tribune.
That’s right, your ears weren’t playing tricks on you. Dashow sent out the song “Rockaway Beach” by The Ramones to everyone at the Trib.
Prior to Dashow’s show, which airs 4-8 p.m., the smooth-talking bearded jockey was interviewed by a QConf reporter about the concerts he attended as a youngster in the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium. Dashow had the privilege of seeing the Monkees come to town with Jimi Hendrix in 1967, as well as Genesis in 1982.
“There was no equivalent anywhere else in the city. It was a beautiful outside stadium in a nice area,” Dashow said of the FHTS.
During the interview, Dashow spoke of his love for classic rock, saying that today’s acts do not present the same standard of musicianship as the likes of Cream and Led Zeppelin. He also said that some bands would stand the test of time with original sounds and potent messages.
“What 15-year-old kid will not be able relate to Pink Floyd when they say, ‘We don’t need no education’?” he asked. Thanks for the shout out, Ken.

| Seinfeld, From TV to SUNY: An introduction to sociology
|
We all know how colleges sometimes offers strange ways for students to obtain the necessary credits for graduation – and whether it's Underwater Fire Prevention 101 or Intro To Basketweaving, it goes without saying that higher learning is trying to reach a broad part of our population.
Well SUNY Oswego has figured a way to broaden its student base, luring students with a class in “Seinology,” where author/professor Tim Delaney will use episodes of “Seinfeld” to teach students the basics of sociology. Jerry Seinfeld, a college man himself, graduated from Queens College.
Robbins, author of the book, "Seinology," says, “Over the years, I’ve used references to Seinfeld episodes in the classroom, and I’ve noticed students have a positive reaction,” said Delaney. “I know that they got the concepts, and I found that I could use the episodes in ways that were appropriate and made the topic relevant.”
There’s still no word yet if “Kramerology” is slated as a follow-up course.

What a Weiner
Will the unexpected pullout of Queens Congressman Anthony Weiner cost him a shot at the 2009 Mayoral election? Apparently not.
According to the first official poll of the 2009 Mayoral season, released from Quinnipiac University, Weiner already holds a strong lead (don’t you just love polls). Weiner received support from 23 percent of voters, with his strongest rivals being Comptroller Bill Thompson and Police Chief Ray Kelly, almost a distant second and third, respectively.
While its much too early to tell, its seems Weiner has struck a chord with voters, remaining fresh in their minds following the 2005 primary against Freddie Ferrer, the poll concludes.
The question is whether voters will stick with Weiner until its time to visit the polls. After all, he didn’t stick with them that long the last time around.

Ah, The Irony
A caller dialed up our newsroom recently hoping to locate a listing from our Queens Today section of the paper. She had torn it out back in January, she thinks; it was definitely in her house somewhere, and she had somehow misplaced it. She wasn’t sure of the heading and didn’t know what date it had run. She was hoping that we could locate it for her.
We didn’t turn up the item she was seeking, but we’re hoping that the people who run the meeting will be able to help.
After all, the caller was seeking a listing for a group that helps people who have too much clutter in their houses. It sounds like this is just the group she needs.

Mad About Cars?
|
| Bobby Cannavale
|
It’s still under wraps but the word on the street between actors and television critics is that actor, writer and producer Paul Reiser is gearing up to show America what it’s like to be a car salesman in Queens.
Don’t go rolling your eyes and mumbling to yourself how it’ll just be a waste of film and CBS’ time. Reiser has put some thought into this one, casting multi-talented Bobby Cannavale (“Will and Grace” and “Oz”) as the lead, and – come on, three little words: “Mad About You.”
We don’t know if the show will take place on Northern Boulevard or Hillside Avenue, but we do know that Cannavale’s character, an ambitious young man, will be taking over the family car dealership slated for the 2006 untitled comedy.
