Nyah
Home: Flushing
Age: 20
Height: 5’ 4"
Weight: 110
Stats: 34-26-36
This Malaysia-born wonder moved to Flushing with her family when she was 4 years old, and grew up in the heart of Queens’ Asian population.
While a student at Benjamin Cardozo High School, Nyah (pronounced ny-ah) began modeling as a16-year-old spokesmodel at import car shows in Manhattan.
Now that she has been in the business for a few years, she has branched out into other aspects of the industry – Nyah is a makeup artist and also has started managing some younger models.
Though modeling is a big focus for her, she tries not to let it interfere with her studies at The King’s College, a Christian university located in the Empire State Building. Though studying broadcasting and communications, she plans to attend law school after completing her bachelor’s degree.
But Nyah loves modeling. She’s more into fashion now than the lingerie and swimwear she shot in previous years. But it’s all playful, she said.
“When you’re at work you have to be on the mundane side, you have to be professional,” she said. “In front of the camera you can let your playful side and your spirit show through.”
Nyah summed up her attitude in five words: “Fun, sexy, confident, enthusiastic and real.”
“I think those are really important attributes a model should have – and also being reliable,” she said laughing. “Showing up late can ruin your career.”
Nyah often starts her day with a walk through Kissena Park, and enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, who she said gives her the encouragement she needs to succeed.
She also loves what’s been done to the Queens Center Mall. “When I was growing up it was this little circular thing,” she said with a slight disgusted tone. “Now it’s great. It kinda reminds me of Roosevelt Field Mall,” she said.

Donald Trump, Jr., 27, executive director of the Trump Organization, is rumored to be shopping around for exclusive print and television rights to his November wedding to Wilhelmina model Vanessa Haydon, also 27.
Word is that Junior and the future Mrs. Trump are hoping to fetch between $100,000 and $200,000 to offset costs of their November celebration.
Big Poppa, who hails from Jamaica Estates, managed to secure an undisclosed sum for photos and video with Getty Images when he married Melania Knaus in January.
“We haven’t actively pursued anything, but a lot of people have come to us,” the young Donald claimed. “I haven’t really thought about it much. We’ll see where it goes.”

| 50 Cent
|
50 Cent’s got game and nothing to cry about. The Jamaica, Queens native who is currently filming a movie about his life found it hard to do a crying scene on the movie set.
“I spend a majority of my time conditioning myself not to cry,” said the gangsta rapper. “If you’re strong and don’t cry, you’re all right.”
The bad boy has nothing to cry about with a new movie on the way and also a video game in which he stars called 50 Cent: Bulletproof.
The video game to be released this fall will be available on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable.

No-No On Zeno
|
| Lori Zeno
|
It appears as if 1010 WINS can’t win them all. Though they were able to get an exclusive interview with Nicholas Minucci’s mother, their following website write-up botched the name of Minucci’s attorney. The site referred to Minucci’s lawyer as “Lori Zito,” though her name is actually Lori Zeno.
Minucci is the 19-year-old accused of beating a black man with a baseball bat in Howard Beach at the end of June.
The 1010 WINS article, which came out July 25 and was labeled “Exclusive,” read, “Lori Zito, Minucci’s lawyer, says she’ll be filing papers in the Appellate Division, maintaining that the 19-year-old suspect is being held illegally in jail.” The article then proceeded to refer to the Queens lawyer by the wrong name many other times.
Swing and a miss! Maybe because it is baseball season, and because of the weapon that Minucci used to beat Glenn Moore, 1010 WINS was thinking of Oakland Athletics pitcher Barry Zito. Or maybe tough-guy actor Chuck Zito. Whatever they were thinking, 1010 WINS score “Zeno,” is zero.

| Russell Simmons veges out
|
Rumors have been spreading that Hollis native hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is redesigning fast food giant McDonald’s boring uniform into stylish hip-hop getups.
Not so, says the Phat Farmer who campaigns for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. He is angrily denying these rumors.
“I’m not in talks with them, I’m a vegan! It’s against my principles. I don’t eat anything that runs away from me,” he told reporters in Vancouver where he is promoting his Phat Farm clothing line.
The health conscious Simmons, who practices yoga and combines it with hip-hop for a unique workout, said he would “not sell out the environment or abuse animals in the process.”
Looks like it will be the same blah blue uniform for Mickey D’s.

Queens native Kirk Jones, aka Sticky Fingaz, has moved on from his days as a member of the 1990s gangster rap group Onyx, which had the 1993 hit “Slam.”
Jones costars in the FX series “Over There,” which airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m., where he plays a hip-hop soldier on his way to the Iraq War. The 13-episode drama was created by Chris Gerolmo, who was the screenwriter for the movie “Mississippi Burning,” and it promises to deliver “contemporary American issues and reality,” according to FX president John Landgraf.
