Lovely Lorita

Lorita Ifeozo
Home: Rosedale
Age: 19
Height: 5’8
Weight: 125 lbs
Stats: 34-24-36

For the last two years, Lorita has been able to work as a model, and she has fashion to thank for it.

This Rosedale beauty was first noticed by a scout in 2005, and has done some fashion shows as well as modeling for Abercrombie & Fitch – which is fitting because she sees her future connected to fashion.

“I have other things in mind [besides modeling], she said, “like fashion design.”

Lorita just graduated from Stella Maris High School in Rockaway Park and has already taken some summer classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

This gal has a bright future planned for herself, but not everything is work and school. When she has some down time, Lorita likes to spend it just hanging out in Queens.

“I go everywhere – especially the mall,” she said. One of the reasons why she gets out so much is the people she meets every day. “I like the shopping and the food,” she added.

When not at the mall or hard at work, Lorita can be found at the gym and exercising, running at the track or home reading or drawing – just loving life.

Though she has had some success at modeling, she knows not to stress about finding success in the rest of her life.

“When you work at it,” she said, “you will get it.”

R-R-R-Regis

College Point's DJ JS-1

College Point’s DJ JS-1 may have been the first person to get Regis Philbin to stop screaming.

His secret: Get the daytime legend to speak with his hands.

During a taped segment of “Live with Regis and Kelly” scheduled to air July 6, the world-class turntablist, member of the legendary Rock Steady Crew and St. John’s University graduate taught Regis how to scratch.

While Kelly Ripa rapped, Regis cut up to his heart’s content. What a surreal scene.

Anything for Sweeps.

Home Run

How many ways can you promote family? Just ask Rev. Run, a Hollis native, of the rap group Run-DMC and brother of mega entrepreneur Russell Simmons.

Aside from his MTV Show “Run’s House,” where the good reverend’s wife and kids are on display, he just inked a $1 million book deal, which will address the issues of family.

Hiphopnews.com, reports that to promote his book, which is untitled, Run will revisit the heyday of Run-DMC and go on tour with his wife Justine.

The tour, which is described as a mobile, multi-media, and multi-faceted campaign, will provide an outlet for the couple “touch people.” Hopefully, they mean figuratively.

This foray into the written word is Run’s second book.

We Rule!

Virgin Mobile has delivered a great tribute to Queens via advertisements on billboards and bus stop shelters in the form of “Queens, You Rule.” This one was found at the corner of Springfield Boulevard and Union Turnpike. In the midst of paying homage to Queens, Virgin Mobile even delivers a snippy diss to Manhattan, which it claims tries too hard to be cool. From bedroom borough to the best borough, we agree – thanks VM!

Dave Attell

Rev Run

Queens-born comedian Dave Attell recently hosted and performed in Comedy Central Park, a night of free stand-up comedy. This inaugural event for the Comedy Central network featured five young comedians including Astoria’s own Ted Alexandro.

Attell was born in Queens and following graduation from NYU, he pursued his interest in stand-up and eventually created and hosted “Insomniac” for Comedy Central.

If you missed Comedy Central Park, you can watch it online at www.comedycentral.com starting July 6.

Hillary & Tony

Hillary and Bill mimic the Sopranos

Hillary Clinton’s spoof of the Sopranos elicited the polar opposite reaction to the show it parodied: it made viewers laugh tears of joy instead of frustration.

In an ingeniously move to connect with the common folk, The presidential hopeful's foray into the cinematic world got attention.

She relased on her Web site, HillaryClinton.com a satirical recreation of the Sopranos final scene which cuts to black before an ominous looming end. Clinton’s commercial is more upbeat and centers on the suspense of what her campaign song will be.

Before the song is revealed, the ad cuts to black, mimicking the Sopranos (which was mainly filmed at Silvercup Studios in Long Island City) series finale which perturbed many viewers and fans of the show. Clinton’s gag featured Sopranos star Johnny Sack (Vince Curatola) and her amiable husband, Bill. Political analysts have said this stunt has done wonders for her popularity.

Eve To Adam In Contract

KDS Music Group, a division of KidSational, has announced the signing of Queens band Eve To Adam.

Eve To Adam is comprised of lead singer Taki Sassaris, brother Alex on drums, guitarist Gaurav Bali and new bassist Riv. The band is influenced by Guns N’ Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. They are “a modern facelift on a classic rock and roll band. We’re steeped in those traditions,” says Taki.

Eve To Adam has toured with the likes of Daughtry, Crossfade, The Exies and have upcoming tours with Saliva and Tesla. They’ve attracted major attention with “Comin’ Home (A Stranger),” a song dedicated to the troops overseas. Their major album debut “Queens to Eden” went on sale June 26.

Rescue Me

Actor/comedian Denis Leary is not a New Yorker. He just plays one on TV. His portrayal of fireman Tommy Gavin in “Rescue Me” is as authentic as his surroundings; the FX show shoots exclusively in New York City.

Over the past three seasons, the plot has unfolded in various Queens locations, including Long Island City. The Mayor’s “Made in NY” program consistently lends its support to the production, offering various incentives that make it simpler to shoot inthe city’s five boroughs.

Leary traces his interest in firefighting to a 1999 warehouse fire in his hometown of Worcester, Mass. that took the lives of a relative and close childhood friend. In 2000 he formed the Leary Firefighters Foundation, which raised a great deal of money following Sept. 11 through The Fund for New York’s Bravest.

“Rescue Me” had its season premiere last week and can be seen Wednesday nights at 10 p.m on FX. Nominated for a Golden Globe in 2004, Leary is now considered to be capable of taking on dramatic roles.
