Kishana: Laid Back And Honest

Kishana Strawn
Age 19
Home: Rosedale
Height: 5’6"
Weight: 122 lbs
Stats: 34-26-32

This Rosedale beauty is a young modeling veteran and has been posing for the cameras for more than a few years. 19-year-old Kishana Strawn has done a great deal of print work and has performed in many fashion shows, growing more confident with each gig.

“I actually got myself into this business and I’m still trying,” she said.

Kishana has been featured with many different modeling companies, including Sean Powers Casting, Everi Exposure, Stanley Kaplan Studios, and High Society Modeling.

She also works very hard throughout the year towards her college education. With a passion for helping others, Kishana is working to obtain a nursing degree at LaGuardia Community College. She also said that she would one day like to start her own business.

When she is not modeling, Kishana enjoys hanging with her friends and family in the 165th Street Mall shopping district, where she enjoys the many different brands of food and clothing lines that are offered.

The atmosphere within Queens caters well to Kishana’s personality, and she enjoys interacting with the people in her Rosedale neighborhood. “I like people in Queens because they’re laid back and honest to a certain point,” she said.

A huge fan of successful pop singers, Kishana holds a very strong appreciation for women that can combine crescendo-building beauty with vibrant talent. Some female divas that she draws inspiration from include Beyonce, Janet, Monica, and Ciara.

Go get ‘em, Kishana – our most recent favorite one-name wonder.

Making Nice With Donald

The kid from Queens has grown up

Queens native Donald Trump was seen on Access Hollywood boasting about The Apprentice last Thursday. He mentioned that ratings “were through the roof” to which the host responded by covering his eyes and asking, “Is he done lying?”

The Apprentice is slated for a fifth season, but its ratings have sagged slightly.

The weekend edition showed Access Hollywood’s host clearing the air by explaining that he didn’t mean to imply that Trump was lying but that he was exaggerating.
Trump and the host made up, shook hands and laughed about the matter.

An Extra Period

This site is close to School District 26 Website, but no cigar!

What a difference a period makes.

Bayside parents – and even children looking to find out the latest news about School District 26 on their new Web site, www.cdec26.org might make the simple mistake of adding a dot between “cdec” and “26” and coming across something that surely has no reference to the public school system.

What they will find when logging onto www.cdec.26.org is a site fully dedicated to providing its viewers with “sex,” “free porn,” “free porn movies,” a porn movie review section and more porn.

With no intentions of further promoting the pornographic site, parents should make note to bookmark pages, such as the correct District 26 site, because oftentimes, Web sites can be very similar in name, yet so completely different in content.

So that’s what the schools are doing with that extra period..

Hillary’s Coin?

Last week U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Astoria/Manhattan) announced that her bill to create a dollar coin program similar to the successful state quarters program has passed Congress and awaits the President’s approval.

Unlike the quarter program that features the 50 states on the backs of the coin, the new program will last for 10 years and feature the faces of presidents on the front of the coin. The back will feature New York’s Statue of Liberty for all the years. Once the program is over, Sacagawea will return.

But some simple math shows that if the bill goes into law, and production begins for 2007, with 10 coins being released yearly, by 2016 the program will end with a sitting president – possibly the one we elect in 2008. For the first time ever a sitting president may be featured on U.S. currency.

Could she presently be a Senator from New York?

Still Fresh

A comfy Tom White

Councilman-Elect Tom White (D-Jamaica) may be the coolest City Council member on the planet. Proof positive came at the Tribune holiday party (yes, we have a holiday party), when he showed up in a full-blown, smoking hot, black (or was it dark navy) and white Adidas tracksuit.

This outfit would make L.L. Cool J jealous, although White may not have quite the physique that the rapper does. Adding that jolly white beard of his, perfect for the holidays, and White looked like a pimped out Santa Claus.
Is Queens' newest old Councilman getting ready to practice his break dancing or actually go jogging? Or maybe he just wants to be comfortable, especially at a party.

Welcome back, Tom!

“Filthy Rich” Graziano makes one of his signiature silly faces

QConf got quite a laugh last week when reporter Jeff Feinman made a guest appearance on QPTV’s “The Filthy Rich Show,” a wacky hour-long sketch comedy act that serves as a refuge for freedom of expression and uninhibited mayhem, featuring many local artists and zany gimmicks.

On the episode titled “Merry Freaking Christmas,” host Rich Graziano thanked Feinman for a Queens Tribune article written about the show in early November. The article was then displayed on camera during the live feed.

Graziano and his wily cast of characters took phone calls from viewers, bantering with those who expressed their opinion of the show in a less-than-polite manner. A character named “Hellvis,” an Elvis Presley impersonator that dresses in red and has small horns protruding from his wig, then sang a little Christmas jingle.

Later on, Feinman let loose during a rap performance by a local artist named “Frenchie,” dancing in the background of the set and displaying a slew of costumes.

“I’ve never been scared to make a fool out of myself,” Feinman said. “On that show, it seems like the crazier you act, the more you fit in.”
