Who can forget Queens born Dina Meyer’s role in “Beverly Hills 90210” as the adulterous professor Lucinda Nicholson, who on separate occasions, deceivingly seduced Brandon and Dylan while her husband was back at the college teaching his own brand of useful knowledge to California University’s finest. Dina’s stint on 90210 lasted only 12 episodes, but over the years, she has become a sci-fi fan cult hero, with roles in “Star Trek Nemesis,” “Time Lapse” and “Johnny Mnemonic.” She also had a few appearences on “Friends.” If you didn’t see the thriller “Saw” in theaters, it is scheduled for release Feb. 15 on DVD and Meyer plays the role of Kerry, a criminologist.

Fine Print Politics
|
| Charles Barron
|
For the prosecutor-turned Councilman, a candidate’s political future is less about his violent past and more about the fine print.
That’s what former Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. said led him to believe fellow Councilman Charles Barron wasn’t serious at all about running for Mayor. Why?
According to Vallone, it’s not because of Barron’s history of slapping white police officers, his calls for racial quotas to fill top-level administration posts, or even his participation in a City Hall event welcoming Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe.
Barron wasn’t a serious candidate, Vallone said, because of a legal technicality.
“He always maintained he would run for both his City Council seat, and for Mayor. That’s not allowed. Barron always said he would take that challenge to court, but he never said what he would do if he lost that challenge.” No surprise, Barron dropped out of the Mayoral race.

A Spit Shine
Noticing that some dust had settled on a bus for which Councilman David Weprin (D-Hollis) had helped allocate funds to aid seniors at the SNAP senior center in Queens Village, the busy councilman took a moment out of his day to take it upon himself to brush off where his name was printed before posing with Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum and his brother, Assemblyman Mark Weprin (D–Little Neck).
With David’s hands-on treatment of transportation services for the elderly, they should look forward to not only getting a ride in a bus that he helped provide, but one that clearly identifies where it came from.
When he spotted Beep Helen Marshall’s name, which was also camouflaged with dirt, he wiped that clean, too. But the Beep didn’t make his photo-op.
