Height: 5' 7"
Stats: 36, 24, 35

We recently heard from former Queens Tribune Model of Queens Linda Wang who was just signed for a commercial by McDonald's. She is also starring in a new ad for Playboy TV. The girl who grew up in Jackson Heights and graced our pages in June of 2005 and will be chomping Big Macs, is now plugging Playboy TV’s on demand service. The commercial has aired for a year on cable channels world-wide.

Titled “steamy” and “every six seconds,”the spots highlight the service, which offers access to original Playboy videos, series and specials.

Wang, a former Pantene hair model, who has since her appearance in the Trib been on the tube in hit including House M.D., 8 Simple Rules, Deadwood and the world-wide hand model for the Scrabble.

The Queens girl’s explained her point of view about Playboy: “At first I was a little apprehensive about doing this commercial for Playboy, because I take each project to heart. However, the manner in which the campaign is done is thoroughly classy and tasteful.”

Final Act

The late actress Adrienne Shelly

Fans of Adrienne Shelly are enjoying the actress’ last work, the film “Waitress.”

Shelley, a Queens native, wrote, directed and appears in the film and was killed on Nov. 1, 2006. She was found hanging by a sheet in her bathroom office on a shower rod.

Initially, it was thought of as a suicide, but police were suspicious of sneaker footprints in the bathroom that didn’t match Shelley’s. Construction worker Diego Pillco admitted to Shelly’s murder.

The film has been well received and has fared well at the box office, premiering in early May and having grossed more than $7 million so far.

Seinfeld Buzz

Jerry, are you there?

What is the deal with Jerry Seinfeld dressing up in a bee costume?

DreamWorks once again used last month’s Cannes Film Festival to publicize its upcoming films, including “The Bee Movie,” which was created by Seinfeld and is scheduled for a November 2007 release.

But when Seinfeld appeared on a suspended platform, dressed up as a bee, and then flew down a zip line, it was clear that the Queens College graduate was playing a trick on his spectators. Surely such shameless self-promotion could only be a joke coming from the comedic mind of Seinfeld.

Stunts and costumes (not to mention puns) point to a new beginning for Seinfeld who has spent most of his career on the small screen and in comedy clubs across the country. Backed by DreamWorks and featuring a star-studded cast, the movie is sure to be a box-office hit.

Comic Advice

Funnyman Alonzo Bodden

Alonzo Bodden, the third-season winner of the popular NBC show “Last Comic Standing,” immediately catapulted to success after winning the show, and has some advice for the new contestants.

“Being funny is the biggest thing,” Bodden told USA Today. “But [viewers] have to like you, because you’re asking them to vote for you.”

The 44-year-old Queens native, once a jet mechanic before winning the 2004 contest, has moved onto successive high-profile jobs. He has appeared on everything from “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” to working in the films “Scary Movie 4,” and the yet-to-be-released “National Lampoon’s Totally Baked: A Pot-u-mentary.” Bodden currently works as one of the fifth-season talent scouts for “Last Comic Standing.”

Pride and Glory

“Pride and Glory,” a crime drama starring Edward Norton, Colin Farrell, and Jon Voight, recently completed filming.

Among the filming locations were New York City – more specifically, 212th Street in Bayside. Residents were surely shocked at the cavalcade that comes with a complete movie set.

“Pride and Glory” is scheduled for release in March 2008.

Rap Legend's Heart Attack

Queensbridge's Marley Marl

Legendary hip-hop producer Marley Marl suffered a heart attack recently.

The 44-year-old pioneer and beatsmith of the Juice Crew had been listed in stable condition in a New York area hospital.

Born Marlon Williams and raised in Queensbridge, Marley is credited with helming hits for diverse acts like Eric B. & Rakim, MC Shan (also of Queensbridge), and St. Albans legend LL Cool J. He and members of the Juice Crew were part of the Bridge Wars, the infamous beef between Queensbridge and the South Bronx that inspired incredible music and creativity.

He recently buried the hatchet and collaborated with KRS-One on the album “Hip-Hop Lives,” released in May on Koch Records.

“They called me and he jumped on the phone and told me it would be spectacular for hip-hop...My reason for doing this is to show these kids that hip-hop beefs are not that serious,” Marley told AllHipHop.com.

Marley, get well soon!

Sol Calling

The next time you answer the phone and it’s someone claiming to be named Sol, think twice before engaging in a zany conversation – you might be getting duped and taped.

Johnny Brennan, one-half of the Jerky Boys, recently released “Sol’s Rusty Trombone.” It’s under the Jerky Boys name, but Brennan goes it solo on this one, leaving his old Queens partner, Kamal Ahmed.

The borough native is up to his prior antics, which included responding to newspaper ads and riling up his targets with his characters Sol Rosenberg and Frank Rizzo, among many. He has another album scheduled for release in the fall of 2007. “Sol’s Rusty Trombone” is a collection of mostly ring tones and some skits. The Fall CD will be a collection of skits.

Brennan, aka Johnny B., formed the Jerky Boys in 1989, who split-up in 2000. Brennan is more recently known for his voice work in the animated series “Family Guy” where he performs the voices of Mort Goldman, whose voice and mannerisms are almost identical to that of his Jerky Boys character Sol Rosenberg.

For now, it might a good idea to invest in caller ID.
