Sterie Varghese
Home: Elmhurst
Age: 26
Height: 5’ 9"
Weight: 130 lbs
Stats: 34-25-36

With her voracious curves, first generation Indian American Sterie Varghese, previously known for her moves on the volleyball court at St. John’s U., is now turning heads in another direction.

Although she graduated with a degree in sports management and minored in business, Sterie chose to pursue a modeling career because that’s what she envisioned for herself.

“I’ve been modeling for a year and a half,” said Sterie. “When I graduated I asked myself, ‘What do I want to do for the rest of my life,’ and modeling was something I wanted to pursue.”

When hanging out in Queens, Sterie still goes to St. John’s to offer her support to their sports teams.

“I received a sports scholarship to St. John’s,” said Sterie. “I still play volleyball to stay in shape.”

Staying in shape through volleyball has allowed Sterie to pursue her career as a model. She also feels that when she models it allows her to act. She becomes a different character in a different role each and every time.

Sterie has done modeling shows during fashion week, been in various commercials, and has been featured in various magazines, but this exotic looking beauty is more than what is on the surface.

When at home she loves caring for her 1-year-old nephew.
“I love him; I love being with my nephew,” she said. “If God sends me the right guy I would love to be a mother.”
She’ll certainly have plenty to choose from.

Nuts About Peanut Butter

Showing off his peanut butter sandwich

Sitcom lovers already know that Queens College alumnus Jerry Seinfeld is a little nutty. Now when put on bread, he makes for a mighty good snack.

Manhattan cafe Peanut Butter Co, whose menu is almost entirely devoted to peanut butter, honored him with a sandwich known as “Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedy Special.”

The creation is made up of a combination of a toasted bagel, peanut butter, honey, and cinnamon.

The comedian was on hand recently to introduce the sandwich and wrote a forward for the “Peanut Butter CO. Cookbook.” In the forward, Seinfeld said this exact type of sandwich helped him survive his early days as a struggling comic in the 1970’s.

“I’ve been a peanut butter nut since I was a kid,” Seinfeld said. According to his wife, Jessica, the two even visited the peanut butter-crazed cafe on their honeymoon.
Sounds sweet.

Seeking Nice View?

Very intriguing. This rental notification on a phone booth sitting on the block near Queens Boulevard and 58th Avenue will certainly catch the eyes of pedestrians seeking a room to rent. One question that interested parties should ask is what exactly this “nice view” entails – and is the woman part of it?

EnGioia A Night On The Town

It seems everyone’s got an opinion on Councilman Eric Gioia, at least in cyberspace.

When the hip young Councilman announced a birthday party fundraiser he’s holding this week at the swank West Side Spy Bar, it received the attention of the New York Observer’s popular political blog, The Politicker. The blog was intrigued by the fundraiser’s strategy, which invited anyone willing to donate at least $10 to attend, instead of a typical invite-only affair for those with big wallets.

It didn’t take long for the blog commentary section, where readers can voice their own opinions, to become an all out slugfest between Gioia’s promoters and detractors. Most comment sections on The Politicker have an average of 10-20 postings per item, and those about highly controversial items might reach 100. The comment section about Gioia’s party capped off at 179 postings, with people writing well into the night.

Now, many suspect that these comment section feuds are driven by a handful of people writing repeatedly under different names. Since The Politicker is a favorite of City Hall and Central Staff employees, some suggested that this feud could have been an internal grudge playing out on the computer screen.

If that’s the case, it appears some political staffers simply have too much time on their hands, a sentiment summed up in the following posting: “If the mayor finds out that all you folks do is hang out at this blog all day, he’ll fire the whole bunch of you.”

If You Can Make It…Where?

Sean Grennan in The Diaries of Adam and Eve at the Heartland

Well, if you can’t make it on Broadway, try Kansas City.
Heading west and across the Mississippi, Sean Grennan has found a stage that has been more than accepting of him. The actor/playwright, who somehow is officially based here in Queens, is starting to call the American Heartland Theatre in Missouri home.

Appearing in several productions at the Heartland, including “Affluenza!” and “Married Alive!,” a local hit that cleverly touches on the ups and downs of married life and extended through April 23, Sean Grennan’s name is becoming pretty familiar in some of Kansas City’s hot spots.

Looking at Heartland’s upcoming season it’s evident that Grennan has nowhere to go but up as he plays a principal role in “Duck Hunter Shoots Angel,” a play by fellow Queensite (and former Tribbie) Mitch Albom.

His name will even be in the bill when he’s not on stage. The company will produce a new musical by Grennan “A Dog’s Life,” next March. “A Dog’s Life,” a comedy with two principal characters: Jack the Dog and Joel, his owner, already has critics intrigued.

Beer’s On Us

Online Trading, from clip to beer to party time to

The trade heard ‘round the world passed through Queens recently, stopping in for a beer.

Kyle MacDonald of Vancouver had the idea that in today’s bartering community, he could trade a paper clip for house. Of course, it had to be a plastic coated, red paper clip that would get attention.

So he began to barter, trading online at craigslist.com for a fish pen at first in Vancouver. He parlayed the pen into a handmade, ceramic doorknob in Seattle, and that for a used laptop in Massachusetts. The computer was traded for a camping stove in Virginia, which ended up California, traded for a generator – which brings us to Queens.

MacDonald traded the generator for an “instant party package” in Maspeth, which included a Budweiser neon sign, an empty keg and a promise to fill the keg. MacDonald showed up and had some difficulty for the first time, since his generator began to leak and it was confiscated – detour to Manhattan to get it, followed by drinks with the Queens boys.

The party package ended up traded for a snowmobile in Montreal, where the trading began to get news attention. Since then a few more items have traded hands, and MacDonald has upgraded to a year rent-free in a condo in Phoenix, but the house may soon be available online.
Give us a call when you get it – we’ll come over for a beer.
