Mayor Mike Bloomberg came to Queens last week to announce a new ad campaign encouraging homeowners to seek help, should they be facing foreclosure.
“Our new public campaign addresses fear, confusion and frustration that the threat of foreclosure can bring by promoting free, confidential, one-on-one assistance,” Bloomberg said.
The ads feature a little yellow home and the tag line: “Facing foreclosure? We can help. Dial 311.”
The Mayor was flanked by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Borough President Helen Marshall and Councilman Tom White Jr. (D-South Ozone Park). Bloomberg also hoped the Legislature would strengthen requirements for lenders to be clear in their mailings to borrowers and to be more open to negotiating with struggling borrowers during settlement conferences.
The Mayor encouraged any homeowner fearing the prospect of foreclosure to pick up the phone and call 311, which refers them to non-profits willing to help.
