Serial Rapists Terrorize Southeast Queens
By Michael Lanza
Police are seeking assistance in the search for two serial rapists on the loose in Queens.
The two are believed to be responsible for 10 separate and unrelated attacks on women in Southeast Queens.
The latest attack occurred last Thursday at approximately 2 a.m. when a 20-year-old woman waiting for the Q85 near 140th Avenue and South Gate Street was forced behind a building at knife point and raped by one of the suspects.
The same suspect is believed to be responsible for an attack two days earlier at the same time at another Q85 bus stop near North Conduit Avenue and 225th Street. Again, the suspect approached the woman and forced her at knifepoint to the rear of a nearby building where he raped her.
The suspect is described as a black man between 19 to 25 years old, approximately 5-feet 8-inches tall, medium build and chubby, with close-cut black hair and wearing a black tribal pattern shirt with images of skulls and a rose.
A second suspect is believed to be responsible for eight attacks between November 2007 and July.
His latest attack occurred on July 9 at 121-02 Merrill St., where he allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl at knifepoint after forcing her from the street into a secluded area.
All of the attacks have taken place in Southeast Queens around Jamaica, Queens Village and St. Albans, where the suspect has targeted mostly teenage girls during the evening and early morning hours.
He used a knife to cut at least one of the women during an assault, according to police reports.
The suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion between the ages of 22 and 28 years old, approximately 5-feet and 10-inches tall, with short-black hair and a slim build.
The New York City Police Department is offering a $12,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of both suspects.
Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD’s Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
The two suspects are being investigated by the Queens Special Victims Unit. To contact detectives directly call 718-520-9363 or 718-520-9277. The first suspect should be referred to case number 328 and pattern number 01-08. The second suspect should be referred to case number 6054 and pattern number 6/2007.
