Briarcliffe College recently announced the opening of its first location in Queens as the New York State Education Department approved an application for 30-30 Thompson Avenue in Long Island City as The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College.

“We are thrilled to offer students who are exploring their choices in higher education with a new option — The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College,” said Briarcliffe College President Dr. George Santiago Jr. “We’ve received a warm welcome from our Long Island City neighbors and look forward to working with the community to enhance the learning experience of our students.”

Briarcliffe College was established in 1966, and offers two and four-year degree programs that emphasize career preparation and development to students in the New York City metropolitan area.

Prior to the opening of the new facility in Queens, the private college had two locations on Long Island- the main campus in Bethpage, and a branch campus in Patchogue. The college has a combined student body of more than 2,300.
Briarcliffe emphasizes career education and offers diplomas in two- and four-year degree programs in Criminal Justice, Graphic Design, Business Administration, Digital Photography, Accounting, Office Technologies, and Information Technology.

In 2005, Briarcliffe received approval from NYSED to open a satellite site in Queens, offering course work towards an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. This program continues today, with students now able to earn credits toward a degree with significant career potential in policing, security, and corrections.

The Queens center will also offer new classes starting in May so students can earn credits towards an associate degree in Applied Science in Business Administration, and a Bachelor degree of Business Administration in Management.

College administrators are happy to open the new facility and are excited to welcome new full-time students into the fold.

“Briarcliffe College is noted for its career-focused, specialized education,” said Dr. Santiago, Jr. “The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College provides new and returning students, transfer students, and busy New Yorkers seeking to enhance their current careers, a readily accessible location to pursue their goals.”

Applications are now being accepted for the Business Administration degree programs as well as the Criminal Justice degree program at The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College. Students taking courses at The Queens Center must attend Briarcliffe College Bethpage campus to complete their degrees.

To enroll, students may call (516) 918-3900 or come in person to The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College, Suite 502, 30-30 Thomson Ave., Long Island City or enroll at the Bethpage campus.
