| Photographs Emote Rhythm and Forms
The New York Hall of Science will feature images from celebrated photographer Walter LeCroy until Sept. 28.
His collection, entitled Rhythmic Patterns and Forms, showcases 24 notable images spanning four decades and seven continents. On Sunday, Sept. 21, the Hall will host a reception to honor LeCroy and to recognize his contribution to photography. This will mark the third solo exhibition of LeCroy’s to be featured at the Hall of Science. His work will be showcased in the gallery named after LeCroy for his generous support and donations to the Hall. LeCroy’s images are often described as “breath-taking,” “bursting with color” and “beyond photography.” He achieves this artistic excellence by uniting his innate photographic talent with cutting-edge technology. LeCroy describes his collection, Rhythmic Patterns and Forms, as “the world just out of reach of our unaided senses, ‘hidden in plain sight’ as it were: the amazing detail and color of the natural world that surrounds us every day, just beyond the reach of our unaided eye.” LeCroy, photographer and Chairman Emeritus of LeCroy Corporation, maintains his passion for photography after a career in designing and manufacturing electronic instruments for international industries. Drawn to the exploration of new photography and technology, LeCroy established Imaging Arts, a fine arts photography gallery in Charleston, S.C., where he exhibits and publishes his work. LeCroy’s photography in “Rhythmic Patterns and Forms” ranges from the Chrysler Building to the Brooklyn Bridge to balloon buildings from the 1964 World’s Fair in Queens. The show is directed by Audrey Leeds, curator and artistic director of the Art Gallery at the Rockefeller State Park Preserve, New York and the Belskie Museum, New Jersey. Throughout the year, the Hall features a range of changing art gallery exhibitions that reveal how art, science and technology can be linked to create a beautiful experience.
