The holidays are traditionally known as “the season of giving,” and that has never been more apparent than in Queens in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
With so many people left homeless or without power after the devastating disaster, the Borough responded with an unprecedented relief effort, and without question, the individuals and groups who have given their time, their money and their dedication to the victims of the storm have earned the title of the Queens Tribune’s “2012 Persons of the Year.”
The “Heroes of Sandy” listed within these pages are in no way a complete list, just a sampling of the thousands who have given of themselves as we approached the holiday season.
As 2013 approaches over the horizon, we hope for better days and a prosperous New Year for all. .
