Mega Changes

Picking a theme for this year’s business glossy was easy.
Of all the Queens business stories that make the headlines, none are as dominate as the mega-developments.

Neighborhoods like Long Island City and Flushing will look much different in the next couple of years and their impacts and results must be carefully studied.

On the table is a $3 billion redevelopment of Willets Point, a $2.3 billion Queens West project and the $1 billion Sky View Parc.

In the current economic state, it’s good to have so much going on in the borough. Mega-developments bring jobs and investment, which will help the Queens flourish in the future.

But it’s important to keep a watchful eye on these developments. Parking and congestion is already a huge problem and could only get worse if the City, its residents and the press only look at the positives.

So get involved in your community before it changes without you.
