Clear As A Bell

Police are charged with the daunting task of making life or death decisions in a matter of seconds. Sadly in those seconds, three cops chose to fire 50-rounds at Sean Bell, killing another unarmed black man in our City.
The surprise not-guilty verdict was handed down from a system we believe in and favors police – the men and women protecting us everyday.

Unfortunately, the Bell trial exposed, once again, our community’s fear of black men.

To say racism played no part in the split-second decisions made by the three cops is naïve. Until the racism that makes us lock our car doors when we drive through Southeast Queens is confronted, it is likely we will continue to see unarmed black men killed by police.

We challenge neighborhoods and communities to confront the instilled racism and unify. Visit and learn about the communities that make hearts beat a little quicker and we challenge for those communities to reach out as well.
In the words of Eldridge Cleaver, “you’re either part of the solution or you’re part of the problem.”
