From the late 1950s to the 1970s, the end of Federal quotas and exclusionary immigration laws brought new immigrants from China and Korea to Queens, where they searched for opportunities that could not find in their native countries.

In addition, Greek immigrants who had settled in Manhattan started moving in large numbers to Queens in search of a more suburban life.
The influences that these immigrants have had on the landscape of Queens are obvious in places like Astoria and Flushing, but now, their children and grandchildren are influencing the social and economic landscape, as well.
