Compiled within these pages you are about to read is a series of stories of some local merchants, manufacturers, bankers, builders and entrepreneurs who have made it.
These Queens Success Stories come from varying backgrounds, most of whom were born without the proverbial silver spoon in their mouths. Hard work, dedication, flexibility and good ol’ smarts were the driving forces of their success. Many people have spoken on success. Some favorites include “Do what you can with what you have where you are,” by President Theodore Roosevelt, “Victory belongs to the most persevering,” by Napoleon and “Eighty percent of success is just showing up,” by Woody Allen. There’s plenty more advice out there – most not as tongue-in-cheek as Woody’s – but we packaged up a good deal of it for you in here. If you want to know how to succeed, ask the people who have done so. Take a look at their lives, listen to their advice and read their stories.
We hope you can get an idea of what it takes, can be inspired by their wisdom and can learn how to make your next – or current – venture take that next great leap forward.

Clear skies are seen ahead for business in Queens. All across the borough business is on the move, including here, where towers for the new home for the Mets, CitiField, are looming in the parking lot of Shea Stadium.
Queens has always been the place for ideas to be hatched, for businesses to plant roots and for companies to blossom. Like flowers in a diverse garden, the seeds of success have yielded a beautiful crop of businesses across the borough.
Each day new businesses break ground in Queens, and each day a new prospect awaits. America is the land of opportunity, and Queens is a place for success. Seize the moment, seize the opportunity, seize the day.
