The need for food pantries continues to grow: according to the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, 87 percent of food pantries and soup kitchens in Queens reported a greater demand for services in 2005. The Coalition Against Hunger represents 1,200 feeding agencies in New York City that serve 1 million residents, more than 400,000 of whom are children. Whether it’s for donating supplies or visiting for a meal, Queens residents should know where to find these important neighborhood places.
