Animal Shelters And Rescue
![]() This dog, Eve, was found walking near the LIE on New Year’s Eve, 2004, was grabbed up by one of the borough’s shelters, and saved from an early death thanks to the help of those who look out for the borough’s lost and stray animals. |
Pet overpopulation is caused by abandonment, cruelty and improper medical care. The New York ASPCA is committed to helping those animals in Queens and the rest of the city that have been abandoned, born on the street and/or mistreated and to making New York City a kill-free shelter state. If you want to adopt a pet, have found an animal on the street, can no longer care for your pet or see any form of animal cruelty, here are some organizations and numbers you can call.
