What Is
The Best?

The people have spoken. For the last six weeks you have clipped forms from our pages, filled them out and sent them in. You have told us about the best people, places, things and food in Queens.

No two were the same, though a few places were mentioned more than once; and we like it that way. After all, in a borough of 2.2 million people, we don’t expect that anybody should have the ability to tell anyone else what the definitive best is. That’s not what we’ve done here.

All we wanted to do was to get some insight into what it is that our readers like, love or can’t live without.

This is not a contest.

There are no winners (other than some randomly chosen entrants).

There is only the Best of Queens.

Turn the page and see what brings smiles to the faces of your neighbors, friends, co-workers and family members. You just may find yourself smiling along with them.

Okay Now What?

I know, I know; it wasn’t in there. Your favorite restaurant, the place where you took your wife on your first date, the place where you celebrated your 25th anniversary, the skating rink where you taught your daughter to spin like her favorite Olympian – none of them were in here.

It’s true; we simply couldn’t list them all. After all, Queens is so much a part of each of our lives, its places, people and memories are too numerous to count.

For the people who told us their “bests,” we thank you for sharing pieces of your lives with us.

For those who didn’t see what they were looking for, there is good news. Though your “best” may not be in these pages, there are plenty to go around; stop by and check out a few of them. According to the people who wrote in, you won’t be disappointed.

In the meantime, you can also start making a list of the best things that did not grace our pages, and be sure to send them our way when we revisit this again some day. The more we have on our lists, the better off we will all be, and that would truly be the “best.”
