Queens’ Silver Lining Senior Centers

Queens seniors are more likely bicycling, jogging, or tossing a bocce ball than sitting in a rocking chair.

More than 350,000 people over the age of 60 call Queens home. There are more than 74 senior centers in the borough and countless other senior clubs, where the 50+ crowd can go for entertainment, sports, conversation, and companionship.

The New York City Department of Aging has a website, in which visitors can access information about senior centers by zip code or borough and the service —including where to get health promotion, home care, meal delivery, NORC, senior center, transportation, and social adult day services. Log onto www.nyc.gov/html/dfta and click on DFTA’s Online Services and then senior services.
