Borough President HELEN MARSHALL

Dear Friends,

The 2004 Queens Tribune Guide to Queens is filled with the numbers, locations and lists needed to navigate your way around the City’s most diverse and largest borough.

This annual edition tells you where everything is, how to get there and what to do when you get there. Information is available on everything from the airport to the zoo.

I urge you to read the Guide, keep it for future reference and pick up a couple for friends.

I also want to thank the Queens Tribune and its staff for putting together this Blue Book each year.

It saves time and legwork and, at the same time, helps boost our borough’s attractions for residents and visitors alike.

I urge you to use the guide and once again discover Queens!
Borough President
Helen Marshall

Mayor Michael Bloomberg

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the City of New York, I commend the talented men and women associated with the Queens Tribune for publishing this Official Guide To Queens. It is a vital tool in navigating your way through the many services that the City, State and Federal governments have to offer.

In terms of the City, 311 continues to be a success and I would encourage all Queens residents to hold me to the grain. Call 311 for all City services and report anything from a pothole that needs fixing to a spotty cell phone location.

Community service is about giving back to the community that you are part of. Again, I want to say thank you to the Trib for taking the time and effort in order to help the great people of Queens. This is clearly an informative tool for all of the residents of Queens.
Congratulations Queens Tribune!
New York City Mayor
Michael Bloomberg

District Attorney Richard brown

Dear Friends,

Congratulations to the Queens Tribune as it begins yet another year of bringing its readers the Official Guide To Queens.
The Guide is an essential compendium of who’s who and what one needs to know to have government best respond to community concerns and is a vital information resource that reaches every community in our county.

I very much look forward to 2004 being another year of achieving strong gains in reducing the level of violent crime in Queens County – we led the city last year – and in enhancing the quality of the lives of all our residents. And once again the Tribune’s fair and balanced coverage of news and issues will help to shape the views of our county’s residents.
All the best.
Queens District Attorney
Richard Brown

Governor GEORGE PATAKI

Dear Friends,

It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to send best wishes to all who contributed to this Official Guide to Queens: 2004 and to the many readers who each year look forward to such a valuable publication.

Our State’s greatness is attributable to its large, vibrant multicultural population. Nowhere is the diversity of our people more visible than in the wonderful communities in and around New York City, such as the Borough of Queens. It remains one of the most dynamic areas of the metropolitan region and a vibrant cultural and social center.

An enriching lifestyle invites people from around the world to visit and continuously attracts new residents. The Queens Tribune has long had an integral role in keeping this growing community informed about local events and about the endless availability of resources for business, pleasure, entertainment and education.
Its many outstanding institutions and facilities not only make Queens a great place to live or spend an afternoon, but also exemplify the pride of its citizens. Those who take the time to read the 2004 Guide are sure to benefit from this directory of people and places who add to the overall success of your community. Providing a summary of cultural, educational and recreational venues, this publication also highlights the unique sites and sounds that characterize life in Queens and that offer something for persons of every interest and pastime.

Special congratulations to the editors and staff who work hard to put together this fine annual edition.

New York State Governor George E. Pataki
