Man Convicted In 2004 Murder

A Brooklyn man was convicted last Thursday in the 2004 shooting death of Derek Reid, 41, in Jamaica.

Kevin Anderson, 44, killed his friend after an argument near Rockaway Boulevard led to the shooting, firing on Reid once in the head after leaving and then returning with a gun.

“The defendant has been convicted of a senseless murder. By choosing to use a weapon instead of words to settle a verbal dispute with his best friend he will now probably spend the rest of his life behind bars as punishment for his actions,” Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Anderson will be sentenced on Sept. 10. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
