Over 16 tons of toxins released into the Queens air – and it’s not against the law.

The above figure comes from the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), a national environmental study group. But the amount of pollutants released into the Queens air was undoubtedly higher than the figure in the report, because the EDF report is limited to manufacturers and does not include toxins from incineration, electric utility generating or transportation sources.
