If
it’s good food, music, dancing and family-style fun you’re looking for,
Villa Marcello is the place to be on Thursday’s — an International Night
Buffet where friends and family meet for fun and good conversation.
Classic
décor, dressed tables and uniformed waiters are the setting for over 100
diners who gather at the Villa from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. for special occasions
such as birthdays, anniversaries, club parties, or just a night out.
My
dining companion and I were escorted to a table where a lively group of
Thursday night regulars were passing around the bread and cold antipasto,
and had no problem telling us to “dig in.” The group from Brooklyn dines
at the Villa at least once a month or more because, “it’s a family-like
atmosphere, music, dance, and great food,” said Anthony West, “and you
can’t beat it for the money,” his friend Robert Nicholas chimed in.
Talk
about food, there were 11 different dishes on the buffet through the
evening, plus a carving table of a “cooked to perfection,” ham.
The
continuous buffet that varies weekly includes a special pasta selection,
mussels in tomato sauce, a veal, chicken, and fish dish, and eggplant
parmesan, all prepared in northern Italian and Continental style.
There’s
something for everyone at $20 per adult and $10 per child including tax and
tip, with unlimited soda, beer and wine on the table.
Pat
Hayler of Howard Beach was surprised when 45 friends, relatives and her
seven grandchildren showed up for her 70th birthday party.
But
she’s a regular at the Villa and wouldn’t have wanted a party anyplace
else.
Partygoers
were just getting ready for an evening of dancing to the international and
current sounds of D.J Jimmy V while disco lights swirled around crystal
chandeliers when my friend and I said good night to our newfound friends.
