This small, neat spot highlights its great
assortment of freshly prepared (different each day) soups ranging from vegetarian through
meat and poultry to seafood. All soups are meals in themselves. Chef Henry Baron has
created some exceptional combinations such as Sweet Potato Bisque with Currents &
Toasted Almonds, a hearty Potato Chowder with cabbage and kielbasa and Dijon mustard or a
non-traditional Savoy Cabbage with Duck, Kielbasa and Thyme.
Then, of course, there are the standards
such as Split Pea, old fashion Chicken Noodle, Lobster Bisque etc. All Soups
Ons soups come with a choice of slices of interesting breads and are priced at three
serving sizes (in ounces: 12, 16 & 32) and by type.
Salads from organic greens ($2.20) with
choice of dressing to a very French like Goat Cheese Salad ($5.50) can be
enjoyed with or without soup or you can opt for one of the attractive tortilla wrap
sandwiches or even a freshly prepared quiche. At $2 a slice, there are at least eight
different offerings from Quiche Lorraine or Shrimp & Corn.
The latest addition to the menu is Ciabatta
Roll Sandwiches at $5.75. You should also try the oriental style Soy Marinated Flank Steak
with Asian vegetables, slaw, organic sprouts and Wasabi dressing. Or perhaps you would
prefer the Mediterranean Spiced Maine Salmon with its unusual dressing.
Dessert treats at Soups On include
made-on-the-premises Bread Pudding, Crème Brulee and Homemade Yogurt as well as other
goodies from bakeries. Of special interest are the ices from the famed Lemon Ice King of
Corona which are featured exclusively.
