Amidst the bustle of busy Metropolitan
Avenue in Forest Hills, sits the serene Metropolitan Restauranta place offering
exquisite food at affordable prices.
This small, quaint restaurant, decorated
with a variety of hanging ferns and other plant life, can accommodate anyone, whether
youre looking for an intimate dinner with that special someone, a quiet lunch by
yourself or a private party for your family.
Offering a vast array of soups, salads,
pastas, entrees and sandwiches, all items on the extensive menu are reasonably priced.
To start off, I ordered a coke ($2.00) and
had a bowl of the green pea soup ($3.50), which was offered as the soup of the day. The
soup, with its mixture of peas, carrots, garlic and beacon bits, was absolutely delicious
and came complete with a loaf of warm bread.
Nearly full from the generous helping, I
pressed on to my main course. With the tunes of Frank Sinatra playing softly in the
background, I was inspired to try an Italian dishgoing with the fettuccini alfredo
($7.50).
Arriving piping hot within minutes after my
appetizer was complete, the heaping bowl of pasta and alfredo sauce was enough to satisfy
even the heartiest hunger and served as the grand finale of my lunch.
The newly renovated Metropolitan
Restaurant, open for lunch and dinner, offers a 10 percent discount for all its senior
customers and takes 10 percent off any weekday lunch bill between 1 and 4 p.m.
Those interested in Metropolitans
great food, but dont feel like venturing from home, can call in and order out.
