Issued a bit prematurely by the government of Liberia which has honored every US Prez on postage stamps. These have been withdrawn. Shot Gun ControlRap Impresario and accused felon Sean "Puffy" Combs showed up on the Giants sidelines at the Meadowlands during the Super Bowlbound Big Blues annihilation of the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. Fellow Johnny Cochran client O.J. Simpson was nowhere to be found, but standing next to Combs was a Giant Hall of Famer whos had his own run-ins with the law. QConfidential has learned that when the Giant coaching staff noticed Puffy yucking it up with LawrenceTaylor, they ordered their team " to keep their distance," and to say no to riding in any car with Puffy or LT. It's Shulman Without The "C"Whats in a name? A lot if you misspell the borough presidents name in the headline of a daily newspaper.
In a Daily News article on Dec. 31, a headline read, "Schulman sees big things ahead." The thing Queens Borough President Claire Shulman saw was that they added a C to her name. "We have a lot of people that call to ask how you spell her first and last name," said Dan Andrews, Claire Shulman's rep. "Its in the Greenbook." Quintessential to a reporter, the Greenbook is the official directory on city officials. "It shouldnt be a problem. All you have to do is look under S," added Andrews. Food For ThoughtA day without the Reverend Al Sharpton complaining about the Giuliani Administration is rare. Lately, days without rumors flying regarding Republican media magnate Michael Bloombergs possible candidacy for this years mayoral race are just as rare. A meeting between these two political polar opposites would seem improbable, but thats exactly what happened recently. An unnamed political source tells QConfidential that the two local power brokers, both with a vested interest in the fall election, "have met and broken bread together". No word on what was discussed, but we can guess who picked up the check! Cop Stampede!!Insiders at the NYPD Pension Unit told QConfidential they cant keep up with the number of cops and police bosses who are turning in their shields and heading for the door to jobs in the private sector. Queens alone has lost 50 veteran detectives in the last month, and thats not counting the number of cops whove quit in the same time period. Sources told us that cops are retiring at a rate of 20 per day. Officers who want to sign-off in May or June are being told to file now if they hope to leave the job on their chosen date. Private sector jobs are reaching out to the cops. Used to be that cops had to start knocking on the doors of private sector firms months or up to a year before they anticipated retiring. Nowadays, the jobs are reaching out to cops from firms like Wells Fargo, Kroll Associates, hospitals, insurance companies, the airlines and major retailers. The sources tell us cops and civilian employees at the Pension Unit are working overtime and "double time" to try to make a dent in retirement processing. One 37-year NYPD veteran told QConfidential that department assurances regarding the number of cops on the job may be true. But it reflects a large number of rookie cops, who do not possess the experience and knowledge of veterans, the senior cop said. Vinny & The JetsOne person happy to see ex-Jet coach Al Groh leave the Jets to coach at his alma mater Virginia University was Jet starting QB Long Islander Vinny Testaverde. Had Groh returned, "the two would have ultimately come to blows, they hated each other so much," a Jet source tells QConfidential. Groh and his son Mike, the Jets Quarterback coach, despite denials to the contrary, had every intention of installing this years #1 draft pick Chad Pennington as next years starter. The junior Groh will be joining his father in Virginia. Grohs surprising decision, only a couple of days after the Jets failed to make the playoffs, put an exclamation point on what turned out to be a disastrous conclusion to a season that began with so much promise. Even the granddaddy of all sex sites playboy.com is trying to capitalize on "Temptation Island."
