From school children singing to political speeches, the word is
getting out: the census is coming and every person counts.

The 2000 Census will map out our present, even as the Tribune is striving to map out our past. The Queens Story is ever-changing and filled with the life moments of millions of parents, grandparents and great grandparents . . . individual experiences which together shape the spirit of this place. We want to take these individual stories and continue to add them into our common folk history, putting on record the tales repeated over countless dinners or family gatherings and counting them all as part of the building of Queens.

Send your "I remember when" and "my parents told me" stories to the Queens Tribune for consideration in the next installment of "The Queens Story." We would also like to see your family photos and photos of Queens at different points in its growth. Address contributions to 174-15 Horace Harding Expressway, Fresh Meadows, New York 11365.

All of our stories count in educating the children of the new millennium. Help us complete The Queens Story.
