It’s a stream of consciousness flowing through a sewer. New York State politics continues to wallow in the muck. The scandalously secretive process of three-men-in-a-room selection of AEG as the group to run the gazillion dollar video lottery terminal racino fell apart when the State Lottery Commission denied licensing because of unsavory members of the AEG combine.

The trials and tribulations of Governor David Paterson have so dominated the NY State political scene that little else remains. The budget clock is ticking; the huge budget deficit is growing daily; and the financial crises sit on the back burner while the “accidental governor” makes the rounds to preserve the remainder of the Spitzer term in office for himself.

It’s never dull when you write about politics in New York. And I’ve used many words in many columns on the accidental governor. I think the column of my friend and colleague Henry Stern below, serves as this paper’s commentary on the Paterson affair, with one addition.
