The scuttlebutt from the New York City Charter Revision Commission has them as expected addressing term limits. A likely scenario the whispers are saying is offering the voters the chance of reinstating the limit of two terms for Council members, Borough Presidents and Citywide electeds – Mayor, Public Advocate and Comptroller.

And then there was one! Almost a decade ago, recognizing back then that New York State was in serious financial straits, the Legislature legalized video gambling devices at racetracks to provide revenue which would be divided between the racetracks and the state...

Outdoor parties, barbecues, the water: that’s what Independence Day means to me. Don’t question my patriotism; we children of the 60s are committed to the freedoms and principles that this day stands for. We just don’t wave the flag and we do seek every opportunity to encourage our nation to study war no more.

My friend Mark Levy delivered the commencement address at the Forest Hills High School graduation last week. When I entered Queens College in 1962, Mark was in his senior year. He was a Student Government President and an established leader in the Civil Rights movement.
